When the heart fails to maintain the rhythm of its beats, we term it as Arrhythmias. One can easily check out for this rhythm by counting own pulse which is on average 70-80 beats per minute. In a normal person, the heartbeats are relatively slow while at rest and relatively faster during physical exertion or sometimes during emotional stress. When these beats don’t fall on place or go too fast or too slow or irregular even at rest or in normal condition, then we say its arrhythmia.
While most of the times these arrhythmias are not life-threatening, they may land a patient into secondary complications or at time in sudden cardiac arrest if left untreated.

Arrhythmias are basically of four types

⦁ Bradycardia

When the heart rate is too slow or below 60 beats per minute

⦁ Tachycardia
When the heart rate is too fast or above 100 beats per minute

⦁ Flutter or Fibrillation

When the heart beat gets irregular.

⦁ Premature Contraction

When the heart beats early.

Furthermore, arrhythmias are classified into following types

⦁ Arterial Arrhythmia
⦁ Junctional Arrhythmia
⦁ Ventricular Arrhythmia

⦁ Heart Block
⦁ Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome
